Cross-overs, connections, ties and links can expose themselves at random moments. Relationships can be born out of incidental meetings. The curators of the exhibition Band / Ties, Charlie Levine (Birmingham, UK) and Suvi Lehtinen (Stockholm, Sweden) met over a dinner during the summer in Berlin, through a mutual friend and curatorial partner Elly Clarke. It was during this chance meeting that the idea of the exhibition was developed.

Charlie and Suvi decided to bring together two Birmingham based artists and two Stockholm based artists for an exhibition that focuses on relationships, with people, places, families, and communities. The artists involved explore where it is they belong (or don't), looking at where they’re from (or how this notion of origin is complicated), or the communities they’re involved in. The exhibition aims to forge links between cities and between the artistic communities of these places.

Natural overlaps and connections are made within all the works, and new opportunities develop.

This exhibition is taking place in both Stockholm (December 2012) and Birmingham (January 2013).

The artists are: Elly Clarke (UK) and Caitlin Griffiths (UK), Bjorn Karlsson (SWE) and Hanna Ljungh (SWE)

FRAME_Birmingham - Elly Clarke

FRAME_birmingham is an Arts Council funded, mac birmingham supported Elly Clarke / Clarke Gallery project that sees unique and very small edition artworks by local and international artists installed into a variety of businesses across the city as a means of bringing art to new audiences, new audiences to art and new contexts in which art can be shown. It is also about provoking and stimulating conversations about and around the artworks, by a variety of people in a variety of different places.

With a public launch on 16th November 2012, the show then runs until 17th February 2013. The frames will remain in place for three months, with work changing monthly or when sold. All work is for sale, up to a maximum price of £750.

4:3 - Caitlin Griffiths

All 4:3 works are available to purchase as the original painting/print or in limited print editions. Each comes with an authentication certificate signed by the artist and can be delivered straight to your home.

4:3 is Lamb White’s inaugural commissioning programme. For the launch exhibition Founder/Director Caitlin Griffiths has curated a selection of new works by artists who engage with ideas of transmission and distribution. All work is also for sale as individual Digital Editions or as a complete Digital Portfolio and is intended for viewing and consumption on your computers, tablets, lap-tops and smart-phones.
